About Wollumbin

Wollumbin which is also known as Mt Warning is situated in far north-eastern New South Wales in the Tweed Valley.

Wollumbin (Mt Warning) is significant to all Bundjalung People. This mountain is sacred land directly the place where our highest Elders our Law Men came to speak and hear from Babara [God] then shares to the tribes the laws and how to preserve and protect the wellbeing of Marmeng [Mother Earth].

The Law men were initiated men of high degree; they would undergo a lifetime of spiritual training that would give them a higher level of mental strength and a greater ability to understand complex problems as well as the power to heal.

Wollumbin (Mt Warning) is a spiritually significant to all the Bundjalung Tribes of our Nation.

The Aim of Wollumbin Community Corporation:
The Wollumbin Community Corporation was initiated in 2001 for the purpose of establishing a sport and recreation network for the Gold Coast-Tweed community. This network is to provide our community with the opportunities available through sport and recreation, to identify and address issues and provide a platform to co-exist with Indigenous and non Indigenous agencies within our area and beyond.
The Intent of Wollumbin Community Corporation:
Our organisation is to provide a culturally acceptable service that strengthens existing services, and provides innovative and new approaches to service delivery. Our future revolves around a unique service that will provide specialist education and training involving key identified target groups, be pro-active in providing sporting opportunities, and the development of our youth to be able to compete at the next level.

We envisage that our organisation in the future can offer a service that provides every child, adult and elder the opportunity to attend and/or participate in cultural sporting events locally and throughout all of Australia. Our future as an association will incorporate growth through participation and our ability to co- exist with current indigenous and non-indigenous organisations with our main focus on attending the NSW Aboriginal Rugby League Knockout yearly.
